Our History
Though many of us may not realize the significant disparities that exist in our own communities, the struggle with hunger is very real. 1 in 8 children suffer from food insecurities in Pennsylvania alone.
Kickstarted in 2016 by members of the Gospel Alliance Church and with a conviction that every child should have the nourishment they need to learn and grow, The Bag Brigade was born.
What started as an answer to the question, “Who feeds the kids on the weekend?” has now grown to consistently packing food bags for more than 200 kids on a weekly basis to ensure their struggle with hunger is lessened over the weekend when they don’t receive meal assistance at school.

superintendent, Mrs. Gregory, has to say about The Bag Brigade
"The Bag Brigade has made such a positive impact on so many of my students' lives. I really enjoy seeing their smiling faces as they receive their bag each week. They are truly grateful and I'm glad to be a part of such a wonderful cause!"
"It's kind of cool because there is always something different in our bags. It's like a surprise every week! I always know that the people working on the bags have giant hearts to be giving all this free food away."
"You are such a blessing with this well-needed cause in our community."
"The Bag Brigade makes my family happy and helps if there isn't enough food. I hope they keep doing The Bag Brigade to help everyone out! The bags make me smile."
